REPORT FROM CONSCIENCE CANADA

August 27, 2002

The organization was founded in 1978 with a PEACE TRUST FUND. Over the years we had many peacetrusters coming and going. We have an enthusiastic Member of Parliament (new Democratic Party) who has introduced the Conscientious Objection BILL ( CO Bill) for several years, as recently as March 2002, however without any result.

We have been able to send out 4 Newsletters per year, we held a successful AGM (Annual General Meeting) in April with a public presentation of the Israelian/Palestinian situation. We have great difficulties finding the required board positions.

For several years we have given out the ‘Edith Adamson Award’ to a person who worked hard and enthusiastically for our cause.

We have been co-sponsoring Peace Walks, Rallies, Conferences which were organized in Victoria, British Columbia.

At the moment we only have about 250 Peace Trusters on file. We are in a serious financial crisis and we may have to discontinue the organization.
